They’ve been leaving messages w/ crappy audio quality on my Google Voice number claiming to be from Apple.
This is a legit Apple Tech support number, I am guessing the scammers are spoofing the number. The said number is listed on the Apple website here under US iPod, Mac and iPad technical support (800-APL-CARE)

Apple Technician here! Yeah they spoof our numbers and try to scam people all the time. We constantly get phone calls of people “returning our calls”.
