I noticed a banner on techscammersunited.com that looked like this:

The quality of the English was poor so I am suspecting that this is not legitimate. Going to the website shows more of the same.

Very nice looking website. But none of the bottom links work so very suspicious.

Edit: Also fake address 4223 MacLaren Street, Ottawa, ON, Canada doesn’t exist.

I put in my scammer phone number. I got a call from the UK. Guy said his name is Owen Kozak but barely could pronounce it.

If you want call +44-1618-421143

Of course he denied being a scammer.

Another interesting fact: People who have been scammed once are usually scammed repeatedly. So targeting your scam against scam victims seems like a good plan. :chicken:

I should also mention that I have reported the banner ad to Google for whatever that is worth.

I talked to a different scammer, forgot his fake name.

He’s using this German number for whatever reason.

I just checked and the site is still up.

I don’t know how to find out who hosts the site, but I did find a link to the company that provided the chat bot. The contact page has no phone or email, though. Not sure if this site is also fake (that would be exceptionally advanced for a scammer, but not inconceivable) or if it’s just poorly laid out.

Can confirm that this is the case. I’ve reported a bunch of the ads via Google’s reporting service. But different ads keep appearing. Clearly these scumbags are determined to keep the scam going.

OK. The chat bot company is real. I was able to use the company chat bot to file a complaint. You can do so as well. The more of us who report the site, the better the odds that they will do something about it.

The site is hosted by Tilda (Tilda.cc). Please go there and report the site.

Working on it. Got an initial response from the host in Russian… not sure if that’s a good thing.

They called me a few times today. Some Russian (?) dude pretended to be calling from Ontario, Canada. I asked why the number is showing up from Germany, then? It’s part of their security system or whatever.

Anyway, if you put in a handful of phone numbers from Google Voice/Talkatone/Etc. you can pretty much waste a bunch of their time. They even bother to leave a voice mail.

I wasted over 25 mins with my phone bot before he hung up lol

Got this from Tilda. Not liking the weasel wording, but we’ll see if they do the right thing.

I got the same email today. It will be interesting to see if they take the site down.
