Wrong number scam. What's the point?

I have been getting a lot of these. I know this is the lead in to some kind of scam, but what kind of scam is this supposed to be? A romance scam? They do sometimes send pictures of pretty girls, but there doesn’t seem to be any attempt to flirt or seduce me. Do they think people normally have extended conversations with wrong numbers? Has anyone gotten anywhere with one of these?

Could be pig butchering: What Is a Pig Butchering Scam? | WIRED

Basically they try and convince you to invest in their crypo wallet.

“Japanese girl” is probably a person (maybe female) in Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, or Indonesia.

It is called “pig butchering” scam. Over several months they gain your trust and reecommend investing (crypto an example)

I get these often.

My first response to them is “have you ever heard about crypto currency ?”

Stops um dead in their tracks :joy:

Months? People really talk to a random wrong number text for months?

I get them and them. I tell them I don’t know you. Then they want to be my friend. If it’s a girl I pretend to be a girl. If It’s a guy I pretend to be a guy. Then i see if they are into gay sex! And BOOM goes the dynamite!
